Took me 4 tries to figure out my oven runs 25 degrees hot
I kept wondering why every cake I baked came out dry on the edges and raw in the middle. Like 6 different recipes, all the same problem. Then last Tuesday I pulled out a loaf and it collapsed on the counter, and my wife said 'you know I always turn the dial down 25 clicks, right?' I never thought to check. I bought a $12 oven thermometer and yep, 375 was actually 400. Now I just set everything 25 less and my last two batches came out perfect. Anyone else have a janky oven they had to learn the hard way?

My sister's oven runs 20 cold, so we just swap recipes.

and honestly that's the smartest workaround, we do the same thing with our toaster oven since it runs way hot. just gotta learn the quirks of your own machine and adjust everything, it becomes second nature after a while. baking's half about knowing your equipment anyway.
