Three years ago my Texas sheet cake came out like a salty brick
Back in 2021 I was baking for my cousin's baby shower in Abilene and mixed up the salt and sugar jars sitting next to each other on the counter. Nobody caught it until my aunt Deb took one bite and just quietly set her fork down, which was somehow worse than if she'd said something. I look back now and laugh, but standing in that kitchen watching 20 people push cake crumbs around their plates stung for weeks. These days I taste the batter before it goes in the oven, which sounds obvious, but did any of you learn a basic kitchen habit the hard way like that?
