My neighbor told me my bread was "dense like a brick" and she was right about my kneading technique

She's a home baker for like 20 years and watched me struggling with a loaf at a block party. Said I was adding too much flour during kneading because the dough felt sticky. I was basically making dry cement every time. Switched to wet hands and a bench scraper method and my last 3 loaves actually had air pockets. Anyone else get humbled by a random neighbor with advice?

Agree completely, happens to the best of us. A retired carpenter down the street watched me trying to fix a wobbly table leg and gently pointed out I was tightening the wrong screw. Took me twenty minutes of frustration before he walked over and showed me the right way in about five seconds.

That's the thing with woodworking or fixing anything around the house, the smallest detail is usually what gets you. I learned that lesson myself trying to hang a shelf level, spent an hour with a bubble level that was just slightly off. Swapped it out for a different one and it went up perfect in ten minutes. Always worth checking your tools or your first assumption before you dive in too deep.
