Hot take: My week of eyeballing pie crust thickness

Decided to stop measuring and just roll it out by feel. Ended up with a pie that looked more like a shallow dish. My family called it the 'pie plate surprise'.

Did the thinner crust change the baking time?

Remember that thinner crust definitely changes the baking time. I mean, it heats up way faster since there's less dough to cook through. Good call from @smith.anna for bringing that up. Idk, maybe it's just me but I've had to cut my usual time by almost a third before. You really gotta keep an eye on it because the bottom can go from perfect to burnt real quick. So yeah, always start checking earlier than you normally would.

Disagree, the heat spreads slower actually.
