Just realized Troll 2 works way better with a crowd than a laugh track, and I will not go back
So my roommate and I ran a little test over the last month. We watched Troll 2 twice, once at home on the couch with a bottle of cheap wine, and once at a bar here in Portland that does a monthly bad movie thing with like 40 people. The couch watch was fine, a few chuckles, but we paused it a bunch and kept checking our phones. The bar night was a whole different animal, people yelling at the screen, somebody brought a fake potted plant, a guy near the back did the "oh my god" line before the actor even said it. The crowd carried the jokes I missed and the timing of a room laughing together made the bad parts land way harder. A laugh track just tells you when to laugh, but a live room fights over the punchline and that is the fun. So now I refuse to watch a so-bad-it's-good movie alone first, it ruins the discovery. What is your cutoff for the first watch, do you save the good ones for a group or just screen them solo and hope?
