Store-bought suet vs making my own... I was team homemade until last month
I've been feeding backyard birds in Raleigh for about 5 years now, and I always swore by my own suet recipe with peanut butter and cornmeal. But after that freeze came through in January, I ran out and grabbed a block of C&S brand suet from the hardware store... and the woodpeckers went absolutely crazy for it. My homemade stuff would sit for days before getting touched, but that store block was gone in under 48 hours. Has anyone else noticed their birds turning their beaks up at homemade? I'm kind of disappointed honestly.

Give it a minute. Birds are just lazy like the rest of us. That cheap store stuff is basically bird junk food, they'll go back to your homemade when the novelty wears off.

Gotta disagree a bit lol birds aren't really lazy, they just go for the easiest calories first. Your homemade stuff has more fat and protein which is actually better for them, so they'll definitely come back for it once the bagged stuff is gone.
