Am I the only one who thinks suet is better than seed in winter?
A guy at the Wild Birds Unlimited in Cedar Rapids told me last Saturday that I should stop wasting money on black oil sunflower seed and just hang suet all winter long. I tried it for 3 weeks and my downy woodpeckers and nuthatches showed up every single day, but my cardinals and finches vanished completely. Has anyone else switched to suet and lost their seed eaters, or am I doing something wrong with the placement?
