Unpopular opinion: that one mess from Vanguard nearly killed my whole weekend and it took 6 hours to sort out
Last Friday I got a notice that my Vanguard account had a problem with a recent transfer, and I figured it would take 10 minutes to fix. Six hours later, after three calls and two chats, I was still stuck on hold while a guy named Dave kept asking for the same info. The worst part is the fee they charged me was $35 for a wire that never even left my bank. So now I'm stuck between eating the fee and fighting it, or switching to Fidelity where my brother says it took him 5 minutes. Anyone else deal with this and did calling back actually get you a real person faster?
Switching over one rough day feels like overkill (my brother switched banks twice and still complains about both). Call again but ask for a supervisor right away instead of re-explaining to Dave for round two.
