Why does nobody warn you that torque wrenches need to be turned back to zero
Ran my click type torque wrench at 85 ft lbs on lug nuts for about 3 years before a guy at the parts counter in Dayton asked me if I store it wound up. I said yeah, it lives in the bottom drawer set at 100, and he just kind of looked at me. Popped it on the calibrator the next week and it was reading 9 lbs low at the top of the scale, which explains a lot of comebacks I blamed on the studs. Now I dial it back to the bottom stop every single time, and I'm wondering how many of you learned this the hard way too.
