Watched a guy strip a drain plug at a quick lube in Toledo and it totally changed how I hand off cars
Was getting my oil changed at one of those 10 minute places off Secor Road last month and the kid next to me cranked a drain plug so hard he stripped the pan. Customer was standing right there watching, and the manager tried to blame the last shop that touched it. I've been turning wrenches 14 years and I still felt my stomach drop watching it happen. Since then I always walk back and watch the first minute when a customer's car goes up on a lift, even at my own place. It costs me maybe 30 seconds per car but nobody's ever gonna come back at me saying I cross threaded their pan. How do you handle it when a customer wants to hover, do you let them watch or send them to the waiting room?
