Tried to save 15 minutes by skipping the torque specs on a head gasket job
Had the whole thing back together on a 2002 F-150 in under 4 hours, fired it up, and heard the distinct hiss of a blown gasket at the rear cylinder before I even got the hood down, so I spent the next Saturday redoing it properly in a freezing cold shop in Detroit with my buddy laughing at me the whole time, has anyone else learned this lesson the hard way or just me?

Skipping steps anywhere just trades 15 minutes for a whole weekend of regret.

Three years of watching people cut corners at work taught me that speed always costs more than it saves. You rush through the planning on Monday, and by Wednesday you're unpicking the same mess three times over. Shortcuts just turn a small delay now into a big problem later.

Right? I did that once with a recipe and ruined dinner for like four people.
