The mouse in the shop truck ate my 10mm and left the socket tray in the cupholder
Last Tuesday morning in our shop outside Tulsa, I opened the door of the 2003 Ford F-250 that we use for parts runs and found the whole socket tray sitting in the cupholder like someone had set it there on purpose. A mouse had been living behind the back seat for about two weeks, and it moved every 10mm socket in the set, plus about 40 nuts and bolts, into a nest made from a shop rag and my missing work gloves. It chewed the insulation off one wire to the dome light but left every fuse alone, which honestly felt personal. I put out two traps that night and caught the guy by 6am, and he had a piece of blue paper towel in his mouth like he was moving in. We still laugh about the cupholder thing, but has anyone found a trick that actually keeps mice out of a parked shop truck for good, because ours keeps finding a way back in.
