Old school spot welding vs the new pulse welders

Tbh I used to laugh at guys swapping out their spot welders for those fancy pulse units, thought it was just hype. Then we got one in the shop last month and ran it on a 2015 F-150 quarter panel, the heat control is night and day, way less warping on thin metal. Has anyone else made the switch or am I just behind the times?
