The Milky Way photos with those insane colors aren't real
I keep seeing people post these galaxy shots where the Milky Way looks like a neon rainbow. That's not what you see with your eyes, even with a dark sky. I spent 3 nights up at Cherry Springs last month and the real view is more like a faint cloudy band with subtle browns and grays. Why do people keep cranking saturation to 100% and calling it astrophotography?

Oh man, I actually just read this thing about how our brains process images differently on screens, like they look more vibrant than in real life sometimes. So maybe that's why those space pics seem so intense.
