Unpopular opinion: my barber's "wash it less" tip fixed my flaky scalp in 8 days
My barber Marcus in Nashville told me last month to stop washing my hair every day and just rinse it, and I thought he was crazy since I'd been shampooing daily for like 15 years. I tried it anyway because my scalp was so dry it was basically snowing on my shoulders, and by day 8 the flakes were pretty much gone. Turns out I was stripping all the oil off and my scalp was overworking to make more, which made everything worse. Cost me nothing to try and I'd been buying $22 medicated shampoo for months. Anybody else get advice from a barber or stylist that sounded nuts but actually worked?
Man, come on. Your barber told you to stop washing your hair so much and you think that's some big secret? That's like saying your dentist told you to floss and it "changed your life." Flakes gone in 8 days could also just be that your scalp adjusted, or the weather changed, or a hundred other things. One guy trying one thing one time is not proof of anything. I'm not saying washing less is bad, but acting like Marcus unlocked the secrets of the universe because he told you to rinse instead of shampoo is a stretch.
