Shoutout to a museum guide in Boston who changed how I see pottery shards

I was at the Peabody Museum last week and a guide said, 'These broken pieces tell us more about daily life than any whole vase ever could.' That simple line made me think about all the small finds we overlook. What's a common artifact that you think gets too little attention?

Old keys are cool, but I've always found broken clay pipes more interesting. They were everywhere and got tossed without a second thought.

Old keys tell the best stories.

Ever notice how many broken slate pencils you see at old school sites? They're everywhere once you start looking, just like @hart.sage said about the pipes. Kids were always breaking them, so you find these tiny, sharpened stubs that show real, everyday use.
