My nephew explained a Roman coin to me and got the whole thing backwards
He came home from a museum trip in Chicago last month and swore the face on a denarius was some emperor's wife, but when we looked it up together it was a man with a wreath, just worn down to look round. He was so sure of it that I started second guessing my own eyes, and it got me thinking about how many little digs get misread the same way. Has anyone else had a family member get wildly confident about an artifact and be totally off?
