Tried a pole saw for deadwood, got a surprise

Used a 10 foot pole saw last month on some big oaks in Austin. Thought it'd just be for thin branches, but it took out a 6 inch limb clean. Learned that angle matters more than power, get the cut right and it drops easy. Anyone else switch to pole saws for mid-size deadwood and never look back?
