Shoutout to the $18 pruning handsaw that outlasted my $90 gas saw
I got a cheap fixed blade saw from a local hardware store in Spokane about 3 years ago for $18 because my gas saw was in the shop and I needed to limb a few branches. That little saw has since cut through limbs on at least 40 jobs and the blade still bites hard. My $90 gas saw, by contrast, has been to the shop twice at $60 a pop and still bogs down on anything over 4 inches. I keep waiting for the cheap one to die so I can feel smart about the expensive one, but it just keeps going. The handle is getting slick and I have to wrap tape on it, but it still cuts faster than the gas saw on most small stuff. Now I'm rethinking what I even need the gas saw for, other than the big removals. Has anyone else had a budget tool outwork the fancy one, or am I just getting lucky with this particular blade?
