Rant: I trimmed a whole yard with a pole saw and my arms hated me, then a $30 handsaw saved the day
So about a month ago I picked up a side job clearing a bunch of overgrown branches off a fence line in Tacoma, and I figured the pole saw would be the fast way to knock it all out. Two hours in, my shoulders were shot and I was cutting sloppy, plus I nicked a chain link post because I couldn't feel where the bar was. Next trip out I grabbed a plain old 24 inch handsaw off the truck just to clean up the little stuff, and honestly it cut cleaner on anything under 3 inches than the pole saw ever did. Six cuts in I could actually see what I was doing and my arms weren't dead by lunch. Took me 40 minutes to finish what I thought would need the power tool for another hour. Has anyone else just ditched the pole saw for close work, or am I the only one who learns everything the hard way?
