Cracked a 30 year old oak today, the rot pattern surprised me

I was taking down this big oak in Portland that had a dead top, figured it was just age. Got the first cut in and the center was hollow but it wasn't wet rot, it was dry and crumbly like cork. Turns out there was an old bolt hole from a treehouse about 15 feet up that let water in over decades. I've cut a lot of trees but never seen rot spread that far down from a tiny opening. Anyone else run into weird internal damage from old hardware left in a trunk?
