Finally figured out why my fight scenes always felt flat after a panel at MomoCon

Man that MomoCon panel was solid. For me the game changer was cutting every other description of the action and just focusing on what the POV character feels and smells. Like instead of "he punched him" try "knuckles cracked against jaw, blood hit my tongue." Makes it immediate.

Yeah @jake986 that "blood hit my tongue" bit really hit me. Makes you feel like you're right there in the fight instead of just watching it from the sidelines. Solid advice for sure lol.

Did you try writing a scene with just senses and zero action verbs @noaht15? Took me hours to break the habit of describing punches but once you do it reads way smoother.
