Can we talk about how a guy at Anime Expo in 2019 changed how I watch subs forever
I was standing in line for the Fate panel at Anime Expo in Los Angeles back in 2019, and the guy next to me noticed I was reading subtitles off my phone. He said, 'Try watching with the subs off for one episode and just listen, even if you miss stuff.' I thought it was dumb, but I did it that night with a show I'd seen before, and my reading speed went way up after about 3 episodes. Now I only turn subs on when the dialogue gets dense. Has anyone else tried watching raw or dub-first to train their ear?
