A photo lab guy convinced me to stop chasing sharpness

I was over at Blue Moon Camera in Portland last month complaining about soft focus on my 35mm, and the guy behind the counter said 'your photos look like memories, not specimens' while showing me his own grainy shots of his kids. Since then I've stopped pixel-peeping every roll and actually enjoy the mess, anyone else ditch the sharpness obsession for vibe?
