Left main gear actuator quit on me at 11pm and the bird sat in Fargo for 3 days
Got called out to a CRJ last Tuesday because the left main gear wouldn't retract after takeoff, and the crew had to fly it back around with the gear down. I pulled the actuator and found the seals blown, no rebuild kit in stock, and the nearest one was in Memphis. We ended up robbing a spare off another plane in the hangar just to get it ferried out, and the logbook entry took me 40 minutes because nobody could agree on the part number. Three days of the plane just sitting on the ramp in the cold, and of course it was a Friday when the part finally showed. Any of you keep a running list of parts that always seem to be out of stock when you need them most?
