Cleaned out my toolbox and found my old logbook from the regional airline days

I flipped it open and counted the tail numbers I'd signed off on. It was 437 different planes. That's a whole fleet, most of them gone now, scrapped or sold. It hit me that I've probably touched every bolt on some of those old CRJ-200s. Anyone else get a bit quiet when they see a number like that?

Ever think about how many hands have touched those same bolts since you did?

That's what @phoenix_grant34 gets at, the weird chain of use on common stuff. You see it on door handles and gas pumps too, this quiet crowd you never meet. Makes the whole shared world feel a bit thin.

Man, that's exactly it. It's like we're all ghosts to each other in these small ways. I feel it most at the grocery store, putting my cart back and knowing someone else will grab it five minutes later. We build this whole life on stuff we all use but never talk about. It makes you feel alone in a crowd.
