My sister's air fryer basket cost more than my first car stereo

Last Saturday my sister was over and she dropped her basket on the tile floor. The handle snapped right off, plastic piece just broke clean. She pulled up a replacement on her phone and said $38 with shipping, and I just stood there thinking about how my buddy in Phoenix sold me his old car stereo for $30 back in 2012. It got me wondering why we treat these baskets like they're disposable after a year of use. I've seen people post about the rubber gaskets melting or the coating peeling after maybe 300 meals. Have you guys found any decent aftermarket baskets that actually hold up, or are we all just stuck paying brand prices every 12 months?

That $38 probably covers the cost of molding the thing in China plus a markup big enough to keep the brand alive. The real question is why the coating peels at all, since cheap nonstick pans from the 90s lasted longer than these baskets do. You might get lucky with a generic one on Amazon, but the fit is always a gamble and the clips break just the same.
