TIL that $6 bag of cheap beans from the corner market is no joke

I always thought fancy roasters were the only way to get a decent afternoon cup. Last Tuesday I grabbed a bag of their house dark roast on a whim because the shop was out of my usual brand, and I figured at $6 it'd be a drain pour. Man, I was wrong. It's got this smooth chocolate thing going on that holds up even after sitting in my thermos for three hours. Anyone else found a hidden gem at an unlikely spot that beat the expensive stuff?
