Serious question, did anyone else learn the hard way that iced afternoon coffee needs double the grounds?
I drink my coffee around 3pm every day and for like two years I just made my normal hot brew and poured it over ice. It always tasted thin and watery and I figured that was just how iced coffee was supposed to be. Then last week my neighbor Dana, who used to work at a shop in Burlington, watched me dump a normal strength pot over a full glass of ice and she just started laughing. She said the ice melts and waters it down, so you have to brew it stronger, like twice the scoops, or better yet make it the night before and chill it in the fridge so the ice barely melts. I tried it Tuesday with 4 scoops instead of 2 and it was a completely different drink, way richer, and I didn't have to add extra cream to hide the taste. I have been making it this way all week and I am kicking myself for all the mediocre cups I drank before. Does anyone here cold brew in the fridge overnight, and how long do you let it sit before it gets bitter?
