Just realized my $60 cold brew maker was a total waste of money

I mean, I get the hype about cold brew being smoother and all, but I spent 60 bucks on that fancy tower thing and honestly my regular drip coffee over ice tastes just as good to me. Maybe it's just my taste buds being cheap, but I've made side by side cups three times now and I can't tell the difference after adding cream. Has anyone else felt let down by a pricey cold brew setup, or am I missing some secret step?

Problem is you're comparing it with cream and ice in both cups, that hides all the subtle differences people talk about. Try both black and room temp, you'll actually taste the smoother mouthfeel and less bitter bite in the cold brew. But honestly, if you're always drinking it with cream, saving the 60 bucks and doing drip over ice sounds like the smart move anyway.
