Hot take: reheating my 2pm coffee in the microwave is ruining my afternoons, and it took a dead outlet to show me
Two days ago I popped my mug in the microwave to save a half cup from going cold, and the kitchen outlet died mid cycle. Dead. Nothing. So I grabbed an extension cord off my truck and ran the thing to the hallway, and that is when I finally tasted what I had been doing to myself. Reheated coffee tastes like hot pennies and regret. I had been doing this every afternoon for close to a year, ever since I started working out of my own van and lost my old office setup. The brew itself was fine, a medium roast I make around 1:30 and sip slow. The problem was the second blast of heat, every single time. Now I pour the rest over ice with a splash of milk and it holds up way better, plus I skip the plug problem. The outlet turned out to be a loose wire on the back stab, fixed it in 20 minutes with a screwdriver and a new receptacle. So what is the move for people who nurse one cup past 2pm, do you reheat, ice it, or just brew a smaller pot to begin with?
