Hot take: I spent 4 months knitting at my desk and wrecked my hands before I figured out the real problem
Back in January I started knitting after work to chill out, usually an hour or so on the couch with a show going, and by April my wrists were killing me every single night. I blamed my office keyboard, bought a $60 wrist rest, saw a doctor, nothing helped. Then my neighbor Carol watched me knit for maybe two minutes and asked why I was gripping the needles like I was trying to choke them. Turns out I had been death-gripping the yarn the whole time, and once I loosened up the pain was gone in about a week. Now I do 20 minutes with a loose hold instead of an hour white knuckling it, and it actually calms me down instead of making me tense. Anyone else find out their relaxing hobby was secretly the thing stressing them out?
